Stacey, I have known about you for a long time. I used to work at Mattel and still know Ruth and Elliot. The message on your Web site is brave and telling. It is difficult growing up in the shadow of an icon, both a commercialized one and a famous set of grandparents. We love Ruth and Elliot and are thankful for the fun and rewarding times we had while working at Mattel. Good luck with all your endeavors. Fred

I came across this web page while researching Barbie for my College essay. I like many young girls have grown up with Barbie. Until now I had no idea about the negative effects that Barbie had on women. I hope that one day we will all take the time to look at each other differently and to take the time to look on the other side of Barbie's coin. I wish the best to all who are dealing with weight problems, and congradulate all who have accepted themselves as beautiful people. I would also like to take this time to remind everyone that true beauty is found within, and until we see our beauty inside can we really project it on the outside. God bless you all.

I just wanted to tell you how much your book has helped me to understand my daughter's body image struggles. She is only twelve, but believes she needs to be thin and perfect. After reading your book, I now understand so much more about the reasons behind our obsessions to be thin. I have read several of your poems to my daughter and have opened up the lines of communication. I just want to say thank you.

There was an article in the Jump magazine about you and it really touched me. People should focus more from the inside than their outter appearance. I believe they should create differnt size barbies which is how people are in reality. I give you a lot of credit girl more power to ya! :)

Dear Stacey, I had to write to tell you how much I enjoyed your book! I was deeply moved by your honesty, insight and candor. As someone who has struggled with my weight and self-esteem all my life, I found your book (and sense of humor) refreshing and uplifting! I could REALLY relate to your poem "Lose Some Weight and I'll Buy you the Store". I can't tell you how many times in my life I have heard that from one or both of my parents!"The Shell" is another awesome poem that so many of us can relate to. As a social worker,I would recommend your book to any of my patients battling the same struggles. Stacey, you are a talented writer. Congradulations on such a successful project and personal jorney. i justr wanted to tell u what an increadible person i think you are Stacey. Your article i recently read in JUMP magazine really opened my eyes, and relized the truth about Barbie. I actual did a speach/report about the body image topic and i used qotes from your article. I think ur an increadibly strong person for everything you have been through, and i presonly look up to you. Your a role modle for strugling young gurls with eating disorders and body image problems. :)

This is a great site I really agree that girls do have to live in the shadow of Barbie and that is why they are so many sick teenages out there. Keep up the good work.
