Poems from the Body Burden Stacey's Other Poetry Setting The Record Straight

BEACH

You are the beach on which I stand
your tide softening my angry sand
if only I weren't so afraid
to feel your ocean as I wade.

Too timid to meet the sun
resting in your eyes my special one.

You are the warmth in which I'm wrapped
my dreams no longer shamefully trapped
if only the wind wouldn't cry
and love wouldn't someday die.

You are the tears I swim each night
my heart always winning the fight
as it tiptoes across the sand
to your eyes my distant land.
